This session will introduce participants to Research and Accountability’s professional development module, Data-to-Action: Building School and District Administrators’ Data Literacy Capacity within Durham Public Schools. This five-part module seeks to educate DPS school and district administrators on the skills they need to direct their schools and departments as data literate leaders. This data literacy professional development series is in part based on the U.S. Department of Education’s 2011 report, “Teachers’ Ability to Use Data to Inform Instruction: Challenges and Supports and Learning Point Associates” (2004, December) report, A Guide to Using Data in School Improvement Efforts: A Compilation of Knowledge from Data Retreats and Data Use at Learning Point Associates.
