This presentation illustrates how to effectively infuse a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) curriculum into a district kindergarten through 12th grade. The curriculum builds elements of the design principle into every unit of study. Kindergartners build engineering and design projects that embed effective problem solving and design challenges at every level. Today’s global society must have students who are inventors, scientists, mathematicians, and artists who can collaborate, communicate, and critically think through real-world problems. The presentation will outline the model that allows for co-teaching of curriculum, discrete elective courses to support implementation, enrichment flex periods at the end of each day, and after-school enrichment activities to support STEAM. This presentation shows how to do that in a practical way while adhering to Common Core curriculum.
